How To Become A Life Coach | How To Become A Life Coach | Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

We hear of all the greatest life coaches and motivational speakers who had no certification of being a certified life coach. The question really comes, do you really need to become a certified life coach to not only life coach others, but do a great job of life coaching others?

Looking at some of the great motivational speakers and the most famous of life coaches, you will often find that they did not have any formal life coach training or certification, you will find in most cases they were using there own life as the certification. The question is - do you really need to become a certified life coach?

Times have changed from several decades ago. Looking into a bit of the modern history of life coaching or personal development, like coaching started becoming more known after the 1950’s and 1960’s. Telling someone that you were doing personal development in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s would have had some strange remarks from people. And tell someone in those days about life coaching, and they would really look at you like you had just come from Mars!

Today life coaching is more popular, and with more and more people getting inspired to give a helping hand to humanity, wants to embark on this great journey of life, life coaching others. As such, there has sprung up several courses at private learning centres and you can also find home study courses that can help you become a certified life coach.

Why would you want to get certified in the first place? Becoming a certified life coach has many benefits, and whether you choose to get certified as a life coach or simply learn from experience, certification can help you to serve more. The most part of the certification process involves learning, and also applying that knowledge. And this is where the best part is, where you can learn how to provide solutions to people.

No doubt the biggest part of being a life coach is seeing things outside of the box, for the people your life coaching clients. They want answers, and want solutions which can cut time, make life easier, and ultimately achieve goals. For well known life coaches and motivators, this involved years of study. For me, I studied personal development since the age of around 15, when my dad gave me a copy of Think And Grow Rich. This set me on a path of learning and one decade later, I am coaching others. For many people this kind of time invested before having returns may not be ideal.

When you begin life coaching by becoming a certified life coach first, you enable yourself the cut down the time of initial training. The answers have been collated to many problems, and here the life coach certification comes into its own merits. You don’t have to spend a whole months or years finding a solution to a problem, the life coach training can provide it in the study.

One thing to keep in mind with life coach training is that it can cut down the time needed in learning the key points that any life coach needs to master, before life coaching others. However, there is still a long training period with life coach certification. The biggest learning, like with driving a car, is that you will learn most when you are coaching others.

The subject of life coaching has been on the rise. This new profession of life coaching has made it possible for others to benefit from the life coaching and achieve solutions to problems quicker than without a life coach. Are there any life coach certifications and life coach training available to help you be of more service to those you life coach?

One of the better ways of achieving success in life is through taking life coaching and for this there is a need for getting coached from a certified life coach who should be able to solve your problems for you including helping with sticky personal relationships and coming out of stressed life within a family atmosphere and thus letting the client find a suitable means to free him or her from whatever these problems are. However, as of now, there is no regulation governing that certified life coach must in fact have certification before being able to practice though there are certain states in the US that are planning on regulating the life coaching profession.

    International Coach Federation
If you wish to become a certified life coach, there are a number of options available to you in this regard and perhaps a good starting off point is to get a certificate from the International Coach Federation who may not actually provide coaching, but still offer certification though you must already have worked for a minimum of two hundred and fifty hours in paid coaching and have had an additional sixty hours of training to qualify for sitting for their examination.

Or, if you already are trained as a life coach, you may try for becoming a certified life coach through Coachville certification where there is no set requirement for a person’s formal as well as informal qualifications with regard to their previous training. All that is required is that you pass their criteria for desirable skills and it is up to you which type of training you wish to undergo and you also have the choice of deciding when to take the examination. There are certain benefits to becoming certified life coach from Coachville since you will get your CV accredited and also get accreditation from IAC though you need to spend eighteen months before you will have completed the requirements for certification.

The other requirements that will enable you to become a certified life coach are that you should have completed the training, and in this regard, any workshops that you have attended will count towards minimum time spent requirements, and these include having attended workshops such as Pathway of Change, Wheels, Change Your Life in 30 days and also The Art of being CFLC recorded class attendee.

Thus, as long as you meet the minimum criteria, there is no reason why you cannot become a certified life coach after having completed the minimum level of training required. Once you do become a certified life coach, you will be in a position to guide others through a process that has been clinically proven which will help the client change his or her subconscious so that they are able to achieve their conscious goals.

Life coaching is such a fulfilling profession. Instead of simply seeing your own success as in a business, you get to change lives, and empower others to achieve success. There is nothing like looking at others that you have coached, and see them rise to new heights of achievement. Becoming a certified life coach makes this possible, and the added fact that your abilities after going through life coach training, will enable you to solve your own most pressing problems, and here is where you will learn even more lessons which can help with your life coaching business.
