Life coach training involves training which will ultimately let you help your clients to both discover and reach their personal goals. The coach utilizes several methods to teach the methods for establishing and achieving goals. The foundations of life coaching exist in executive training. Using various forms of counseling, such as mentoring, psychology and sociology, the life coach uses various methods to help clients.

Life coaching originated from three primary sources: Consulting for businesses and the advancing of organizations; training for the development of individuals; and professions such as counseling and psychotherapy. Arguably today’s life coach training is rooted in the 1940s-1950s works of the psychologists Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers. They stressed the importance of the client becoming active in his growth and development.

Two events caused the demand for life coach training to skyrocket. Executives experiencing burnout began searching for assistance in juggling their personal and professional lives. Also, as the baby boomers neared the age of 50-years-old and became the victims of downsizing, life coaches helped them to jump start their lives. While life coach training remains most widespread in the executive world, it is now attracting increasingly more individuals.

While psychologists have influenced the focus of life coach training, you should be aware that it differs from therapy. Psychotherapy typically involves one’s behavioral or emotional difficulties and disturbing situations. Therapy typically focuses on a client’s dysfunction, in order to transport him to normal function.

On the other hand, life coach training works with functional people who want to progress towards a higher level of function. Their objective is to excel and enjoy an exceptional life. Life coaching actually resembles the problem-solving methods that therapists use to treat people with minor psycho-emotional difficulties and stresses.

Nonetheless, life coaches further the process by helping the client to create a life that is resolute. In life coach training, rather than focusing on the negative aspects of a person’s psyche, a holistic approach treats the entire person. Instead of highlighting what a person cannot do, it helps the client to learn what he can accomplish. The result is that the person’s general mental health and life progress. In life, training can exist in several forms. Life coach training differs in that it trains for life itself.

We all want the edge, the edge in business, the edge in our lives, and the edge in everything we do. For many the edge is focusing on there business, and leaving it at that. However, this is what everyone does, and it does not guarantee success.

People get in business, work and work. They learn in business, and many believe that there own knowledge and merits will guarantee success. Though it may, this is the root of many business failures - the ‘I don’t need teaching mentality’.

Take a look at athletes. I am amazed by athletes, these are dedicated people. Now consider Olympic athletes. Whether an Olympian or an athlete with high aspirations, they all have coaches to coach them.

A coach is essential in 2 big areas. The first is that the coach, coaches many people so they get to see different ways of working, and find better solutions throughout different industries and life areas. The second is probably the best and relates to the first, that being that they are out of the box.

While you are in your day to day life, in your day to day business, a life coach is impartial. They have a view of your business and life in a different light. Yes, you may have problems; in fact the life coach probably had those same problems in the past or at least encountered them before.

This can be great news for you, because if you have been one of those dedicated to getting the edge in business and life, you may have set goals, and are working to achieve them. A life coach can give you suggestions and offer advice that can help you get there.

Life coaching is pretty much a new career industry. Ten, twenty years ago the word life coach would have seemed strange. There were only a handful, and they were and are helping the people who wanted to have the edge and those that have the edge.

Now, if you have a small business, you may think that life coaching is one which only the Bill Gates of the world can afford, however this is not the case. Today there are many new life coaches getting into the profession, and are dedicated to helping you get to where you want.

You may have heard of big life coaches such as Anthony Robbins, commanding $1million in fees, however there are less costly ways to invest in yourself and get some life coaching. There are people less well known who can help you.

Another option is books and seminars. Books can help you expand on your skills and learn what you need at that time. Though obviously this is a more time consuming method than hiring a life coach.

Seminars though generally needing more of an investment can offer some great benefits which books can not provide. You get to network and meet others that want to achieve lofty goals, and also get a taste of a winning atmosphere. This motivation can help you go full speed to your goals.

Some life coaches run seminars, so getting life coaching from them often gives you free entry into the seminars. There are many benefits in getting life coaching, and whatever your budget, you can move forward to your goals in no time.
